Crashing at high speed seems to make crash physics nonfunctional afterwards

I've tried this two times. I believe I was going over 200 meters per second both times. After the first crash I am unable to make crash physics work, either ship to ship crash physics or ship to asteroid however the debug gun does still damage blocks. Reloading the save fixes this bug.
