Design Mode
Im not sure it was ever suggested, but there is a thing that I always "kinda did" with use of mods, and would like to see as a base in SE2:
Next to creative and survival a dedicated Ship Design Mode
One that has:
- empty space of a color we can chose (could be limited, no need to "fly" here)
- more like Blender style of control, kinda RTS movement, but without character model
- placing blocks is under a mouse pointer not under "crosshair" of our character
- easy access to blocks palete, could be on a side panel or something, if we get rid of player HUD it opens alot of posibilities to have it like color palete from paint or stuff
- operating with a mouse like in Blender would make copying and pasting, making blueprints so so so much easier
- without charcter you can pass through walls (ghost mode like)
I think being stuck to a having a character model while designing is very restrictive and geting rid of it with small changes to HUD and interface would make design of blueprints a new and gr8 experience.
