Medium Armour
The gap between heavy and light armour has always been way too much for my taste. 6.6 light armour blocks to a heavy armour block (as it was in SE1 anyways) means to armour your ship somewhere in the middle, you need either very thin heavy armour, or very thick light armour.
This could easily be fixed by adding a "medium" armour type, perhaps 3 times the health and mass of light armour.
My suggestion of adding the "Armor Replacer" mod from SE1 into vanilla SE2 would make the addition of more armour types easier to handle: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers2/pc/topic/46075-armour-replacer-tool.
While this suggestion is primarily for medium armour, it would be really neat to see other armour types as well, resistant to different damage types, or different ways along the progression path for survival.
