General Feedback for Space Engineers 2
While in certain aspects SE2 offers some improvements compare to SE1, at current rate it is disappointing.
I would like to have option to use old SE1 controls. In my personal belief current controls are absolutely horrible, rotating blocks via pressing and holding control is pain, it slows down building and i switch toolbar every time accidentally, its not natural and generally the idea of not being able to move while building is pain.
I would appreciate to return old symmetry settings and controls, for example i don't want a game to "reset" my symmetry, while in old SE1 i could easily turn off this function by pressing T.
Another pain is that in order to place a new block i need to always press J to start "new grid" why is this function here? It's just one more button i need to press for apparent reason. But then if i want to continue on old grid i need to press j again to close new grid and start again on old one.
Basic building symmetry for creative, why in gods name do i need to press control + t in order to setup symmetry? Can please someone explain to me why someone took controls of SE1 and made them so much more complicated for no apparent reason? SE1 again you need it 2 buttons, one for turning it on and other for setting different mirrors.
Symmetry reset, every time i go to far from grid or start a new grid and return to old again i need to turn symmetry again... in SE1 game would remember your symmetry settings on every blueprint... why is it here different?
Ability to set distance of how far you want to place your block, in SE1 with control + middle mouse button i could set distance at which i can place blocks, why is this function not currently in the game?
Control + delete, i want my control delete, maybe i want to remove a grid entirely, what if i want to remove red ship or blue ship? Am i supposed to delete it by hand every time?
Current state of controls for building feels like have been made by someone that doesn't build or does so not for long period of times. I have 3k+ hours on SE1, its simply hard for me to understand why controls where changed without a logical explanation, they are not comfortable and when building for longer period of times it becomes tiring.
While in free camera mode we have only our flashlights from engineer to use as a light source, when in free camera (this was issue in SE1 as well) i would like to have something stronger that a flashlight that would really lit the grid in its entirety.
While i understand certain limitations and that game is in alpha, controls are for me no excuse to add, key binding options. Its for me really hard to understand who tough this was a good ide, i am sorry but its one of factors that simply prevents me from building and enjoying game. A game that is about building has to many issues with controls for building to be justified.
Boost please ion thruster power, both small and large grid ones. Currently to my belief they are simply to weak. Same as SE1 where ions are to weak which causes a lot of players to use alternative ways of propulsion like gdrives and clangdrives. There is no reason for them to not be boosted it would result in people using less thrusters and by that improving performance maybe and decreasing PCU load.
It would allow us to make ions more viable in long term gameplay and not as a stop gap to better propulsions, people have already created clang drives that can break speed limits, i really hope you think about it as there isn't much negatives. It would make heavy armor builds more viable, currently they are not usable due to ions being to weak for even small amount of heavy armor.
Remove or consider please lowering 20ms safety. 20ms is very high speed for grids crashing to one another to do no damage, at the same time game should still be punishing players for reckless flying. It looks as well wonky when ships with a weight of several tons crashing to one another and doing nothing it feel weird and wonky.
Make gyroscopes stronger, i am using here same reasons as ions, less gyroscopes less pcu load and more compact grids.
Drills doing no damage to blocks while drilling, while they shouldn't do a big damage to them its still silly that it does none.
General lack of content, while i am fully aware that it is alpha build but not having even conveyor tubes is simply to much for me, it will force everyone to rework their grids when they come out, and when are they coming out? In a month? 3? 5? Basic functions like connector and conveyor system should have been already in the game considering how much of a weight it will have in the future.
No toolbars for ship, even that is something i expected its absolute minumum, i am willing to accept gatling not working, or refineries and so on not having any functions but not having a basic toolbars for ship is simply to painful.
I can of course write more, but i am willing to accept this as alpha even tho to me this doesn't even feel like alpha, more like a demo of a kickstarter project that is being developed by 1 dude, and even those tend to have more content. If this offends you then i am sorry but this is how i feel. How i said i will accept alpha excuse but not having even basic control functions for your character and your ships in a alpha that is centered around BUILDING is for me pure incompetency. Changing basic key binding is mandatory even for alpha.
