Will not run under ProtonGE or Proton v9.3

I installed Space Engineers 2 and ran it under Proton on Fedora Linux.

The first time it ran I saw a splash screen and nothing more. Finally Steam stated that the program was not responding after several minutes and execution was terminated.

Space Engineers 1 on the other hand runs without problems under Proton.

Same issue here, covering any Proton version tried on any hotfix from VS1 through 0.12.23.31/32/33/34.

System specs:

Software is Lubuntu 24.04.1 LTS on kernel 6.8.0-52-generic with LXQt 1.4.0-0ubuntu3 spanning through ubuntu6 and openbox 3.6.1-12build5 including (lib)x11 21.1.11/2:1.8.7-1build1 and qtwayland5 5.15.13-1 or libwayland-server0 1.22.0-2.1build1, running in Steam beta 1738026274 inside flatpak 1.14.6-1ubuntu0.1.

Hardware is a Ryzen 7 7700X @5.5GHz with 32GB DDR5 mounted in an ASRock X670E Pro RS with firmware version 3.12.AS02 in competitive gaming profile, WD Black SN850X M.2 2TB, and RTX 4070 Super A1

Other users are reporting that the new 0.12.23.34 hotfix similarly does not launch on other desktop environments like KDE distros including Fedora 41 with KDE Wayland version 6.2.5 on kernel 6.12.11-200.fc41 and likely others. Reports include systems with Nvidia cards and also AMD cards, like the RX 7900XTX.

With the 1.5 patch there is still no execution of the game.

When I launch it the initial screen pops up. So far so good.

Next it says I'm not running on a minimum spec system (which is not true)

I click OKAY and it continues to the load screen followed by the roadmap screen. In the bottom right corner there is the check box to say "Do not show this next time" and there is the OKAY button. These two items do not respond. They behave once again like there is no eventhandler bound to the checkbox or the button. It has been like this since about 1.2. \

Ooops I am back to Linux Mint for the OS. Not that it makes a difference. I am also running the latest version of the NVidia drivers and I only use PROPRIETARY drivers.
