Game version: v0.12.23.28

System specs:

OS: Windows 11

CPU: Intel i7-9700k

GPU: MSI RTX3070

SSD: WD Blue 500GB

As I am not aware which features are only temporary, or are already planned to be added in the future, there will be no specific structure of this feedback.

Firstly, the game runs very smoothly so far, with minimal lag experienced. The only cases where I do experience lag is when the game saves, but it has not been to such an extent that it is problematic.

The game has crashed once, after flying Blue ship into Red ship at about 250m/s, however I will submit this is a bug report, and focus the remainder of this feedback on general comments and thoughts and suggestions about the game.

Suggestions:

  • Quick feedback functionality such as found in Subnautica, this is purely so that more feedback can easily be given while in game.
  • When a blue print is being used in toolbar, placing a module still works with LMB, however, RMB does not delete a block. When working with small blue prints/modules this lack of deletion feels unnatural. For me it would be nicer if RMB could still be used as delete when a blue print is selected in the toolbar.
  • An option to adjust the FOV
  • A way to select a blue print to the clipboard as in SE1, without having to add it to the toolbar
  • A way to quickly equip the paintgun, such as clicking P (the rest of the paintgun functionality works great thus far)
  • A hot key to toggle grid sizes when working with blocks. Specifically the blocks where one cycles through shapes. Cycling through both shapes and sizes becomes a bit tedious, having a button to quickly toggle between 0.5m and 2.5m grid sizes would significantly speed up building.
  • Folders for blueprints for better organization

Nice features:

This is just a list of new features that I have found to be very nice so far, some of them I am pointing out purely because of their difference to SE1.

  • The modular building using blueprints has been excellent
  • The revised block rotation system (specifically the new controls, i.e. using ctrl+keys) has felt more natural and quicker than in SE1 (after getting used to the new controls).
  • The symmetry system is quicker to understand than in SE1
  • The general quality/graphics/smoothness of the game is noticeably superior to SE1

Ultimately I am very excited for what SE2 will become, and it seems to be off to a very good start. Well done to the team and thank you for the years of bringing scifi imagination to life!
