Game causes keyboard to become unresponsive
Hey,
For some reason, the game occasionally causes my keyboard to become completely unresponsive. I'll just be playing around doing whatever, and suddenly it just stops working. Whatever key I was holding at the time will get stuck when this happens, so if I happen to be flying forward then I'll keep flying forward endlessly. My mouse still works fine though, so I can still look around and blow things up with the debug gun.
Every single key on my keyboard will stop working. Pressing Esc does nothing, trying to bring up the start menu doesn't work, and even CTRL+ALT+DEL is unresponsive. If I unplug my keyboard and then connect it again, it will start responding again after a few seconds, but I've ran into this issue thrice in 35 minutes of playtime so that workaround doesn't help much.
I've not been able to figure out any reproduction steps; the issue seems to just randomly appear whenever. Doesn't seem to matter what world I'm in either. So far I've had it happen when flying with the jetpack and when standing still trying to build a ship.
I'm using a Logitech G110 keyboard, and while it's likely older than some of the people playing this game, I've not had this issue in any other game or application. My specs are listed here, and I'm running Windows 10 version 22H2, build 19045.5371. I've attached all the log files I could find, but other than a very large amount of failed HTTP requests, I couldn't find anything of note in them.
Hope this gets fixed soon so I can start messing around with the new grid system. Thanks in advance!

Same. happening every 10 mins or so and unplugging the keyboard has been the only fix. Even things like the caps lock become unresponsive.

Hey, sorry for the late response.
I've just tested it again and I can confirm the issue is still there. It's the exact same as before; after about 10 minutes of playing my keyboard stopped responding and didn't start working again until I unplugged it and then plugged it back in. I've attached the logs of this session.

Thanks for your answer. In this case I have one more suggestion - try launching the Game with the Logitech Gaming Software closed / not active. My guess is that the software messes with the Game's way of reading input or creates a virtual keyboard which game believes is the physical one, which could be causing unresponsiveness.

No difference, unfortunately. I've closed Logitech Gaming Software and killed all Logitech processes in Task Manager. While playing the keyboard still stopped responding after about 12 minutes, and then again about 7 minutes after that.

That's really unfortunate :( I have a few more suggestions however:
1. Press Win + R, type control, and hit Enter
2. In Control Panel, choose Hardware and Sound → Power Options
3. Next to your currently selected plan (it will be marked with a dot), click Change plan settings
4. Click Change advanced power settings
5. In the popup, expand USB settings → USB selective suspend setting
6. Set both On battery and Plugged in to Disabled
7. Click Apply, then OK
8. Close the windows and reboot
1. Press Win + R, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter
2. In the left pane: Windows Logs → System
3. Right-click System → Filter Current Log…
4. In the filter window, look for Event sources and select: Kernel-PnP, Kernel-USB, HIDCLASS, USBHUB and click OK
5. Look for warnings / errors around the time your keyboard became unresponsive
6. Double-click an event to show details (Device ID, timestamp, reason)

Still no dice. My keyboard is already plugged directly into a USB 2.0 port, and turning off USB selective suspend didn't solve the issue. Though I'm on a desktop, so I don't have the On Battery or Plugged In settings.
The event viewer also didn't show any new events when the keyboard became unresponsive, not even in other categories, from other event sources, or different log levels.

Wow, this article really hit home! The way you described the learning process, the trial and error... it totally resonated with me. It reminded me of playing Doodle Baseball, you know? You gotta time your swing perfectly, and even then, sometimes you just strike out. But each miss teaches you something new about the timing.
