[BUG] v2.4.0.86 - Contracts - Station Upgrade: Radio Beacon

Shockwaver shared this bug 20 days ago
Need More Information

Hello.

As for many other players and station upgrade contracts I can’t complete the contract.

I built the grid as per instruction and the contract advanced to transfer ownership step. I moved to the green box (which stayed visible the whole time, while I was building the site) the step cleared without the fanfare and the contract didn’t advance to the rewards step.

Things I tried to no avail:

  • Abandon and re-accept the contract
  • Fly to the contract terminal to check if I could claim rewards
  • Completely clear the area before transferring

Last hotfix didn’t solve the issue for me and for many other players as well, for this and and for other Station Upgrade contracts even after abandoning the contract (or starting directly with a clean save where the mission was not accepted yet)

Please help, as I will need this contract to proceed with my experience in the game. For now I have cleared the mission with the debug menu, but I don’t want to proceed any further not to have to go through it again as soon as the bug will be solved. As such, I am stuck.

Thank you kindly.

Hello Shockwaver,

Do you mean you can still reproduce this issue even on a new Save? Have you tried verifying the Game files through Steam after downloading the Hotfix?

If you publish the World and start a New Game from that World, does the issue with Station Upgrade Contracts still occurs?

Kind Regards,

Bartosz

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Not entirely sure whether you meant a new game or forking a previous save, but I did try the latter with the in-game Save As from a point where I didn't accept the contract yet and proceeded from there.

However the bug struck again 1:1 — please find the attached save.

As for the published world, I am currently trying, but as a new world it starts off with initial contracts which are not Station Upgrades, so it will require a couple of hours to get to them (I don't want to rush forward with the debug menu, as I wish to work on a clean slate).

Again, if you wish, you can make use of my attached save to pinpoint the issue at hand.

Will keep you posted as soon as I reach Station Upgrades in the published world.

Thank you,

Regards.

I encountered this issue with the Build Hydrogen mission. The patch notes were not clear about if the patch was for all mission of the "build and then go to the box to transfer" in all location or just the radio beacon in one location. At any rate, I downloaded the update, verified the game files, abandoned the mission, re-ran the mission and the problem still exists for me.

I have started a new survival game without the tutorial and after I work through it to the mission I will report back on how it turned out.

That being said, I'd still like to recover my original survival game.

Thanks for your work on this problem.

Hello,

I confirm it working starting a new game from published save on workshop.

Thank you so much again for your support and for the fix!

Cheers

As a test I followed Bartosz's instructions. In my game I had built a base at the location of a mission right near Vallis Reach. As I left that base and was flying to abandon the mission the whole base I had built was blown up.

It may be that modification of areas used by the game later, as Marcel suggests, is interacting with the game to create the problem with completion.

Hello,

I have the same bug here: game says "mission accomplished", but still the green cube and the orange GPS marker. Nothing else.

Will try with a new world but need to redo all the missions?

I did exactly what Bartosz suggested, and it worked. The task was completed successfully, and I now have the marker to claim the reward.

Just be aware that after starting a new game using the world you uploaded to the Steam Workshop, as Bartosz suggested, you will need to complete a few tasks before the Radio Beacon mission becomes available again.

Thank you, Bartosz, the rest of the development team, and the community!

Hello,

Same issue with the Station Beacon, but fixed as Bartoz suggested too.

I published my world on Steam Workshop and checked that Steam had synchronized all the files.

I then reopened the world from the Steam Workshop, restarted the mission, and completed it.

I kept the satellite built, and it was automatically detected by the mission and validated successfully.

thanks to the team

Did you have the mission already there when you started a new game from workshop?

Starting a new world or redownloading from the workshop purges contract progress which fixes the issue

Interesting, I have two saves stuck at different contract points. I'll try the workshop suggestion and see if it works.

Finally got that quest done, plus my solar panels are working in space again :D

Hello there. I have also encountered this broken contract on Verdure thus preventing me from progressing the storyline. I have done the publish of my world to attempt the fix as suggested by Bartosz. Still waiting on the OK by workshop content scan.

Note: this save is marked by the debug menu. I will start a new game when I am able to and see if this persists

Build v2.4.0.86 - Another solution

After encountering the bug, I decided to try starting a fresh game from scratch. I worked my way back to the mission, and it did complete successfully.

So there are two workarounds to this issue:

  1. Publish your world, then start a game from scratch using that published version. (Bartosz''s workaround)
  2. Start a fresh instance of the game.

See attached videos.

2 things of note; Firstly the Bartosz fix DID NOT WORK. I uploaded the world. Created a new game and loaded in to it. My ship, the structure I built, and the Block I was standing on (at the completion point.... were all floating in mid air!!! The Giant Boulder where you had to build the things did not spawn in to the workshop file! Needless to say, immediately upon loading in, ship falls from sky (was parked locked to the rock with thrusters off) - a few seconds later the building fell, just after that, I fell ...... umm what gives?

Secondly, did the fresh restart complete the contract on the new save only? or did it somehow later show the original bugged one as completed?

The world you uploaded was with the contract accepted already?

The solutions actually converge into one: the point is STARTING A NEW GAME.

Uploading your world is just a way not to lose all your grids and belongings.

The fix must have been at a world level, but something that it is generated “upon” new start.

I tried starting a new world with my workshop upload but all contract progress was lost. I don't want to go through mining 50000 cobalt and copper again to reach the station upgrade for the hydro station, just for a chance that the bug was fixed. I'll wait for clearer instructions or a new patch that fixes this properly before investing more time into the game. Also not interested in using the debug tools and perhaps introduce other issues later that will receive less support.

I'll attach my save file in case it helps investigation. Same issue but for the hydro station upgrade in Verdure

If you upload a save where you just mined those 50ks and you didn’t deliver them yet, you would just need to accept the contract and complete it right away: even if contracts are reset you keep your belongings, hence you just need to pick the right (strategic) save to upload…

I have the same problems with many missions. Only one thing helps - debug menu ctrl+f12, complete mission.

Hello Engineers,

Clarification - Hotfix 1 for Vertical Slice 2.4 contains the fix to the issue with Station Upgrade Contracts completion, however, the fix is not applied to saves created before the Hotfix was released. This is due to the way that the Contracts data is stored in the Save Files and due to us being unable to overwrite the Saved Games.

You should be able to refresh the Contracts by either:

  • Abandoning the Contract, reloading the Game and accepting the Contract again (it may take several attempts) or,
  • Publish your World to Steam Workshop and start a New Game from it or,
  • Use the debug menu to regenerate all Contracts (This is the most reliable solution which does not reset any progress that was already made, it will however flag your Save as "Debug Used"):
  1. Make sure that there is no active Contract
  2. Open debugmenu (Ctrl+F12)
  3. On the left panel select Gameplay → Contracts
  4. On the right panel scroll down until you see "Generation" tab
  5. Press "ClearAllContracts" button
  6. Press "ReGenerateContracts" button
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the right panel
  8. Press "Refresh" button and wait a few seconds

Let me know if these help.

Kind Regards,

Bartosz

Silly question. I'm trying the abandon/reload/accept loop - should I be saving the game every time I "return to Windows"? Do I need to go back to the contract site to trigger something?
