Smelter having a stroke with auto queue from assembler

Need More Information

The smelter will rapidly stutter whenever the assembler starts to craft something, and then act normally again after the assembler is done. The base has plenty of power so that shouldn't be an issue.

This is at the quest location for the acquisition: supply and demand quest.

Hello James Thatcher Burgess,

From the attached video, it seems like the Smelter is indeed turning off and on again, usually as symptom of having not enough power. Could you please make sure that there is enough power produced on the Grid? There should be 2 large Batteries and a small Reactor on the Grid, all non-functional and waiting to be repaired.

Kind Regards,

The Batteries are fully charged and the reactor is also running and both machines are able to run at the same time if they aren't auto-queuing items, it seems to only happen with the smelter getting a queue from the assembler.

I had the same issue, but cancelled the recipe and at some point it stopped happening.

I was puzzled by a similar occurrence; maybe related? However, in my case the devices seemed to wait or queue the collective tasks (even though - considering a human doing it - parallelization would have been possible easily). What however completely halted my industry was indeed different: I tried building parts for a rifle, which involves a steel tube (for the rifle itself), but also a pressure tube which requires a steel tube as ingredient. Since 1 steel tube was built already, but left in the gearforge input queue, the assembler got stuck in a deadlock as it seemed to wait for it's steel tube.

I didn't "attempt" to replicate this another time; but I will and file a proper report then if the behavior indeed is reproducible.
