Saved game takes 6 minutes to load, and toolbars don't show in latest Hotfix 2.3.0.2793

Need More Information

Hi, this is a continuation of the problems started in the previous hotfix.

The saves take AGES to load, I timed mine at 6 minutes, where previously the most it ever did was about 1 minute. Same save game, only difference is the hotfixes.

Also, the toolbar still doesn't show, so I can't switch tools, or choose what I want to build. Hitting the number for what should be there also does not work.

Additionally, if I hit ESC to try and close the game, the menu does not show. If I mouse over the area, the audio cue that i'm passing over a button does play.

Here's the published save, for whatever that's worth: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3764864042

Hello Bruce Carey,

Have you tried verifying Game files through Steam? Additionally, we can try deleting two folders:

  • C:\Users\(your_username)\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers2\AppData - Important! - Backup your save files and blueprints before deleting this folder
  • C:\Users\(your_username)\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers2\Temp\ShaderCache

Then launch the Game again and try to load your Save.

Let me know if this helps.

Kind Regards,

I updated my graphics driver and that solved it. I wouldn't have expected that to be needed with just a hotfix, but here we are.

Thanks, you can mark this as solved.

For reference, I'm on:

ProcessorAMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz

Installed RAM48.0 GB

Graphics CardNVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (8 GB)

System Type64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Wait, I spoke too soon. I just installed hotfix 2.3.0.2798 and we're back to a super long load time for the saves. Also no toolbar. I'll update you asap

Ok, I copied the save to my newer laptop, and it runs just fine. Specs on this machine:

Lenovo Legion

ProcessorAMD Ryzen 7 7735HS with Radeon Graphics (3.20 GHz)

Installed RAM64.0 GB (63.2 GB usable)

Graphics cardNVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (8 GB)

AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (483 MB)

Windows 11

System type64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

So, it seems like we have an issue with an older graphics card, because I checked, and I do have the latest update on my Windows 10 machine, new driver as of July 7. Is there anything we can do about this?
