Surface ice patch not detected when mining
Solved
Build v2.3.0.2780
When landing in the mountains, I noticed a blue surface ice patch as opposed to the snow. When I ran up to it with my drill, it was not detected at all. I can mine it and get ice, so it is definitely an ice patch. Just not showing when the drill is equipped.

Hello Jeff Parker,
I could not find such a patch of Ice on the Planet. It might be that your download was corrupted at some point. Please verify your Game files through Steam and try again. It may happen that the specific Save is already beyond repair so please also try on a New Save.
Let me know if this helps.
Kind Regards,

Hello Jeff Parker,
Does this issue still occurs for you after yesterday's Hotfix - 2.3.0.2788?

I have been flying around collecting ice for my ship, but I have not found any surface patches again on Verdure. The ore detector is finding sub-surface ice pockets, and it has been detecting those just fine. I am also able to mine micro-deposits of ice from the snowy regions while I dig down to the ore pockets, and those are not triggering any false positives.
I'll continue to monitor the issue, and if it occurs again, I can open a new ticket.

snow is not detected by ore detector or mining drill. I have seen it in Videos, too. There is ice, but the drill does not see snow as ice. At least not the snow on the mountains on verdure. I have not detected ice as deposits, probably the will show up, that was different before

Hello Jeff Parker,
Roger, I will close this thread as such. A bit of clarification, Snow will grant small amounts of ice when drilled, as part of previous changes to Survival. This is the same functionality as when drilling sand and getting small amounts of silicon, dirt will grant iron and rock will grant nickel.
Kind Regards,
