Sector Progress exceeding 100%

Not a Bug

Not sure if this bug is actually worth fixing, but I felt I should report it in case it's a symptom of a larger problem. Basically, switching a Survival world to Ceative and back again, then completing contracts, will cause a sector's progress value to go over 100%.

I discovered this because I desperately needed an Area Welder early on. It was absolutely impossible to weld the projection for the ship I designed without one. But, the ship I was building was the one I was planning on using to reach space during a Classic Survival start, so I had no way of getting the parts for an Area Welder other than placing a couple fancy blocks in Creative and then grinding them up in Survival. (Devs, maybe consider giving us Area Welders at game start until the projection welding issue is resolved?)

Evidently, switching to Creative automatically sets each sector to 100% completion, permanently. Not great, since I now have a bunch of blocks unlocked early, but oh well. I figured I'd do the contracts anyway, for the other rewards and the sake of getting a good play test done. It turned out to be a bit awkward, though, because all the contracts have been unlocked at once and my sector progress value just keeps getting larger and larger.

Hello Allison M,

This is expected behavior. This is still early version of the Classic Survival world and will be adjusted in future. Please note that when you start Classic Survival, Verdure, Kemik, Helionis and Oblivara sectors have all 100% progress - it is not tied to enabling Creative.

Additionally, you can add the Area Welder to your inventory through Debug Menu -> Gameplay -> Floating Objects, searching for Area Welder and adding one to inventory.

Lastly, could you please clarify which projection welding issue you are referring to?

Hi,

Thanks for the response! Given the warnings that come with enabling the Debug Menu, I'm not sure my way is any worse, but it's a good tip to have, thank you.

The issue I'm referring to with projection welding is the fact that you can't get at blocks hidden behind others, particularly when they are small. We need an option like the SE1 projector "show only buildable" feature or the area welder is the only way to get everything built by hand.

Hello Allison M,

Roger, thank you for clarification. As I have no knowledge of such feature being planned currently, please a feature request in our Feedback section here on the site.

As for the original issue described, since it is an expected behavior, I will close this thread as Not a Bug.

Kind Regards,
