Auto connector too agressive
Need More Information
version .1972 through .1983
The P to connect is nice, never fails now. However, it sometimes destroys the ship, or both ships when connecting two ships together. The default connection now SLAMS the ship to the connector. If the ship is an inch above the connecter it appears to breach the safe speed and causes a collision rather than docking to the connector.

I have the same bug
Hello SuperDK7,
I could not reproduce this issue. Connecting two ships with Connector blocks does not cause them to be destroyed. Could you please provide a video recording of your issue?
Kind Regards,

I too have this issue - It doesn't damage anything but the two grids do slam together, whether an inch or a couple of meters apart.

Yes, the next time I run through the scenario I will load up the Bull Frog miner or welder and then show the explosion of both ships when docking from an inch or so away. The docking/connecting force appears to be more aggressive the smaller the ship. Sometimes it is so aggressive that it is funny to watch the ship getting smacked down.

The attached video shows massive damage to both ships when the P key was pressed to dock. The docking sequence is the last 5 seconds of the 60 second video. Note that although this does happen, it is rare. It may happen one out of a hundred connections. This one looked to be completely routine, not expecting any issue. Apparently, the thruster to the rear of the connector was smashed into the mother ships connector. I'd have to re-watch in slow motion to see what may have actually happened.

I've never had it destroy a ship... but I agree it is very aggressive. Slams the ship down instead of just gentle docking.
