Refineries suffer from same bug as drills

Solved

We already know about the drill bug where they're coded as an input but should only be output storage. The same issue is happening when multiple refineries are connected in series stacked on top of each other. Their input and output bins are going nuts just like the drills do.

Hello SuperDK7,

I could not reproduce this issue on current Game version: 2.0.2.57. Could you please confirm that is the case for you?

Connect two or more smelters to each other (literally stack them so they’re directly connected to each other. Then tell both smelters to do 5 runs of 100 items each. Sit back and watch the fireworks happen!

I assume this works for any production block directly connected to each other with the same test.

I know this bug because I tried to stack smelters to reduce time making lots of steel plates. Once the smelter inventory gets full, it tries to put the excess in to the nearest container (which is the other smelter) and you get the bug similar to where the drills get jammed up during mining.

This is the same bug as the drill "inventory full" bug where the game moves inventory in and out of the drills so rapidly that the grid must be powered off and the cargo manually removed from the drills. If you connect 3 refiners together, or in certain circumstances any single production block, the game will react the same way it does for the drill inventory bug. Where the drill was coded to move inventory in and out instead of just out. The issue will only occur when the refineries are full. They will attempt to move the inventory in and out of themselves, just like the drill "inventory full" bug.

Hello Engineers,

This issue is now fixed as of Game version 2.2.0.1991. As such, I will close this thread.
