In symmetry mode i try to put something right in the middle (on axis) and it puts two things in the same place. I can weld one. Another cant - error. And i cant delete the second blueprint thing. only one way - destroy the first thing, then delete both blueprint in this position. Switch the symmetry off, and put the thing again in the middle.
Double placement of holograms when building in survival prevents welding. w/ work-around
When placing holograms to build blocks in survival, if the mouse is double clicked fast enough (sub 25 milliseconds as my mouse has a double clicking issue from age/use) it is possible to place two holograms in the same spot. When a player attempts to then weld the hologram, a random one will weld to the point of having a single component, then throw an on-screen/pop-up error saying there is an obstruction and preventing any further welding. This is easily worked around by trying to delete the hologram (some times more than one), which exposes the partially welded block that is hidden by the extra hologram(s).
(Something similar to this does also happen in SE1, but the difference in build system just means the occasional miss-placed block vs getting an "error")
Best of luck with all you guys do; and hopefully this work around can help others till you guys manage to "convince the lightening-rock fairies to cooperate", commonly called "fix the bug".
I have the same bug
I have also experienced this when using the Mirror Build tool with the hologram, if I have an Absolute center(Where it cuts through the center of the blocks) It will on occasion place two holograms overlapping each other.

I’ve run into the same issue. My workaround is to turn off the symmetry mode when placing symmetry point blocks (including the center point) — otherwise, even after the block is fully welded, the construction hologram ghost will still be visible.

Dragging holograms into each others stacks them.

It places two holographic copies in the same spot. Welding it up welds up one but the second hologram remains. It prevents placing new blocks in adjacent areas. It can be fixed by grinding down the first construction and then welding up the remaining hologram. Turning off symmetry when working on the mid-line is a workaround for now.

Hello Sean Payne,
This is a known issue that is already fixed on our internal environments and should be shipped as a part of VS2.2 release. I have added this thread to our internal ticket (SE2-28380).
As such, I will close this thread. Happy Engineering!
Kind Regards,
