Problems when leaving cockpit with magboots

Need More Information

Haven't seen this one reported yet.

So, pressing 'X' toggles between your jetpack and your magboots. Magboots only engage (turn yellow) when outside of gravity and with a grabbable surface.

When you enter a cockpit with the jetpack OFF, but the magboots NOT engaged (white, not yellow), then when you exit the cockpit in zero gravity, the magboots fail to engage (grip the surface and turn yellow) even if there is an available surface. Sometimes clipping through the available surface. As well, you remain in the seated position with button pushing animations until you toggle the jetpack on and off. Once you do that, the boots will correctly grab a surface if available.

After testing various combinations of gravity vs zero-gravity, landing surface vs free-space, this happens every time.

So, I see two problems:

1. Cockpit pose/animation fails to stop on cockpit exit

2. Magboots fail to detect grabbable surface on cockpit exit

Hope that's clear enough.

Hello Jayim Duinara,

Exiting the Cockpit and Control Seat with Jetpack OFF while in 0G should no longer cause the Magboots to fail to lock on to a surface. Could you please confirm that is the case for you?

Wow, I had forgotten about this.

I am no longer stuck in a seated/button-pushing animation, so that's better!

As for the Magboots, when exiting a cockpit, the character now appears ABOVE the cockpit, even if the ship is 'parked' on a surface. In a gravity environment, the character then drops to the 'ground'. In 0g it takes a maneuver with the jetpack.

So, no, the Magboots do not automatically engage when exiting a cockpit in 0g.

However, I do not even know if that is the intended behaviour. It is currently functional, though there might be a future problem in survival mode if the jetpack requires fuel. If the jetpack is unavailable, for whatever reason, then you would be stuck in place upon exiting a cockpit in 0g, as is.

But perhaps that is how it is intended and is simply one of the hazards of space travel? Keep spare jetpack fuel?
