I have found the fix. you simply need to type something out, and press enter on your keyboard.
my confusion stemmed from the fact the UI stopped responding to mouse inputs (apart from the text bar where you input the title). I do not know how i missed that fix.

when trying to save blueprint. I deleted the default "grid" title, but did not rename it before pressing the save button. resulting in what i deem to be a hard lock
i have been able to repeat this. every time I needed a full restart of the game to resolve the issue.
