Basic Assembler in coop mode still deletes queued orders

I don't know what it takes to just get this fixed, so I figured I'll report this here since it's bugging me on this ongoing Public Test just as much as it continues to bug me in every new update.

During the public test where you introduced survival overhaul with basic assembler, I was slightly annoyed to notice that in coop mode it steals regular assembler's build orders of components it cannot make and the build orders don't even show up in its queue, they just disappear from the master assembler's queue without any notice. I was kind of surprised to see this bug slip untouched into the released major update of survival...

Then, 6 months later when you released the awesome build planner feature, I thought you had to know that the basic assembler coop bug needed to be gone so it won't utterly break this great feature which should signicantly reduce the tediousness of building by being able to conveniently and reliably queue up and then grab all components that are needed for the blocks you point with your welder (or otherwise add to the planner)... unless, you see, you happen to have a basic assembler helping out the master assembler so 2/3 of the advanced components are never made which defeats the purpose of the build planner when it's totally unreliable!Turns out, it's ok because players will most likely replace the basic assembler with another assembler (and they'll definately do it if being pushed to that, right..?!) so the game mechanics are left to deal with the problem in a natural way or whatever might have been the reasoning...

So here, this ongoing public test runs flawlessly and I'm having fun with the small hydrogen tank, but then the excitement is watered down since I'm so deeply disappointed to see those different assemblers still not playing nice with each other. I just had to write this report, when it just looks like no one else seems to care?

Here's the original report from 13 months ago:

I just wanted to kindly ask if maybe you devs wanted to find a way to make this work and add it when you finalize this next major update? Even having the basic assembler sitting idle, doing nothing if the first component in master queue is off limits, would be better, or maybe just having the coop-stolen orders showing and staying in the basic assembler's queue so you'd see when it happened and how many components to re-order? Now it's just really bad when there's no sign that it happened and it's a really major effect when only 19 or 29 out of a 100 queued reactor components or superconductors are made, since the basic assembler is that much faster to delete the orders than assembler that is making them.

There's quite a few functionality issues with assembler co-op code. Have you ever tried setting a disassemble-mode assembler to Co-op? I suppose it could be fixed now, but they used to steal orders from assemblers in assemble mode.

I was actually at first thrilled and happy when trying Survival Overhaul update and noticed the basic assembler and normal assembler could be used in co-op with each other, and even though the survival kit doesn't have co-op, it could still be used as master if you set the others in co-op mode! Surprised me how well they seemed to work together. Until of course I tried to make 20 superconductors, got half a dozen and spent 10 mins scrolling through all inventories to find where the rest are... A decent workaround was to use basic assembler as master and queue in co-op assembler the specialties separately, but after the Build Planner released, that feature was supposed to negate the need to constantly access the assembler/production interface. I just don't want to immediately scrap those first producer blocks the moment I built a regular assembler, each new block takes quite an amount of work at the very start...

Don't know if anyone has come across this or not but every time I try to cue up 2000 steel plates I only get around 600 produced. Don't know if it consumed all those resources with it or just for the 600 odd plates that it gave me but it never produced the entire 2000 plates that I cued up.

Hello, Morpph38!

Thank you for letting us know this is still an issue. Can you please provide an un-modded save file with reliable steps to reproduce the issue?

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards

Laura, QA Department
