A mix of blue and orange thrust they can go on a surface or in space you can switch modes and it would be easy to build ships that can go on planets

Hmm, these sounds interesting. However we already have 3 thrusters types now, adding another one would be overkill. I play vanilla, and i have no problem designing a ship that can go anywhere. Maybe you need more experience. Tho' i have to admit, ships that can go anywhere become bloated and have PCU limit to high. This needs debating, but i'm basically for it, i guess.

True, hydrogen and ion for a ship that will be used mostly in space, and hydrogen and atmo, for ships that will be used primarily on planets. Ice is WAY over abundant in the world and Keen did a decent job of ensuring the H2s match up well with the Engines, and both fit the drain rates of either Hydro Thruster size properly. The math is there if you're into that kinda thing.

Still, would be nice to see some tiered vanilla thrusters or, at the very least, one endgame thruster that is very expensive but works in all environments. So basically I'm sorta on board but it would have to be, again, an late game thruster or schematic you have to discover to unlock, in some Spawned stations or ships.

I think we should have an endgame thruster, but like you mentioned, there should be other prerequisites to being able to build it, such as a blueprint. I'm thinking Kinda like the Epstein Drive, which atm is a mod based on the Expanse drives.

How about an upgrade module

Or an upgrade button in its config that costs.

cost the same as having a second engine.

.

Continuing the internal module idea. Where there is 2 module slots in the engine. The modules are made in the Assembler like hydrogen bottles or ammo and requires equivalent in materials. For example a hydro module would require hydro engine worth of materials to make.

+ Hydro module give engine hydro thrust ability.

+ Atmos module give engine atmos thrust ability.

+ Ion module give engine yep ion thrust ability.

+ speed module give 100% faster acceleration.

+ energy efficiency module 25% reduce fuel/power usage

+ yield module give 75% higher thrust output.

.

So a atmos with a hydro and ion module would give an engine that is able to fly in all environments.

.

An atmos with two yield modules would have 2.5x the thrust force output.
