PS5: I can reliably crash an empty, offline game on Alien planet
I've deleted all my save data. Then I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Then I created a new Alien Worlds game in a drop pod. Then I exit the game and change it to be Creative instead of Survival. (not experimental mode, btw)
Then I jetpack to any of 3 places where I want to build a base, jetpack around the area, and there's certain locations where I've crashed the game well over 20 times. In a practically empty world. Not a single grid in it other than the drop pod.
If this is hopeless, just tell me to never play Alien World until I'm on another platform.
But if you want to debug this, I've got 1500 hours into this game and decades of Unix/Linux System Administrator experience. I can give you spectacular bug reports. Tell me what you need.
Obviously I can't give you video or exact gps locations, because the game crashes and I lose everything I have done since the previous save. But we could probably come up with a GPS trajectory that will crash it if you follow the points and stay on that line. And I could do a cameraphone video. Whatever. Just tell me what you need.

In case it isn't clear, this isn't some idle curiosity about "can I crash the game?". These 3+ locations where it reliably crashes are *exactly* were I want to build my base. There's not a lot of ice on Alien Planet. So I found a place I wanted to build base near a lake. But every time I jetpacked back to that area, the game would crash. So I went pretty far away from there, started to map out another area for a base. But there's a place right next to the ore in that second location that I can't jetpack without crashing.
Now I'm scouting a third location. And it's starting to crash there.

Here are two videos of one of the game crash locations. This is 2 approaches toward the same point. Can you guess where I wanted to build my base. Basically in the center of that 20x20 square that I can't enter without the game crashing. I was able to go there once, in a previous savegame. But I couldn't return without the game crashing.
These videos were taken after I:
1. deleted all my save files using the procedure in one of the Keen postings about savegame problems on ps5
2. deleted the entire game
3. re-installed the game
4. started a brand new alien world that has only the drop pod, and one other small grid (1500 pcu), and the 3 block tower you see in one of the videos
5. exited the game and re-started it in creative mode
6. jetpacked to this location
There are 2 other locations (one about 15km away and one about 100km away) which do exactly the same thing with slightly less reliability.

Hello, Engineer!
We're very sorry to hear you're experiencing issues. Thank you for the comprehensive issue description, this really helps.
Let's try two separate steps.
First, please send us a GPS of an approximate location that's causing issues without approaching it. Alternatively you can create a save approaching the area that causes issues and publish it to mod.io and share a link in this thread.
Second, let's try sending logs so we can see what's happening on your side.
To send logs, you can follow those steps:
Thank you.

1. "First, please send us a GPS of an approximate location that's causing issues without approaching it."
I'll do you one better. I'll give you two pairs of gps points, each of which describes a trajectory to the same crash point. (the ones from the videos)
2. "create a save approaching the area that causes issues and publish it to mod.io and share a link in this thread." ... will do
3. "Second, let's try sending logs so we can see what's happening on your side." ... will do
All of this will likely be done today. Possibly tomorrow.
Thanks!

1. I have attached images of all 4 gps points which are used in the videos I linked before. These are also in the saved game.
2. Here is the save game link. I reproduced the crash, using exactly the same method in the videos, right before uploading this save.
https://mod.io/g/spaceengineers/m/distant-worlds-2024-01-06-try-mountain
3. I have sent the logs, using the same email address associated with my login here.
Additionally, please see attached screenshots of GPS coordinates used in the videos and in the save game. (just in case)

Regarding your request above ("Update this thread with details filled in the report for us to be able to identify it"):
The only detail I was able to add in that interface was my email address (same as the one I'm using to make this post). If there's something else you need, please describe it specifically. I didn't see any way to add a "description" in that interface.
This is probably obvious to you. But, just in case it helps to be clear, I'll put all these pieces together.
1. you can load the savegame that I uploaded to Mod.io
2. it has the gps points used in the two videos. The videos are recordings made in that saved world.
3. Watch the videos to see how to use the gps markers. They are 4 points that describe 2 lines which intersect at the game crash area.
4. reproduce the video by flying full speed from "Z Crash Ni - start point 2" where the game is saved, towards "Z Crash Ni - waypoint 2" ... your game should crash before the engineer hits the mountain (as in the video)
5. You can also reproduce the other video using the other 2 waypoints in the attached images
I eagerly await your response! I'm building a scenario for others to play on Alien world, complete with a story and characters and many objectives spread over 100s of kilometers. I've had to scout new locations three different times, after I encountered a repeated game crash spot which made the location unusable.

I just submitted another crash report through the game interface. I now see the "details section". (It's basically invisible until you select it, since it's the same color as the background.)
In the details I explain that this crash happened in a more complicated savegame with many grids. But it could be the same issue. it sure looked familiar.

Hello Engineer,
Thank you for comprehensive description and all provided information, this is extremely helpful. We will attempt to reproduce the issue and get back to you.
Kind regards,

Hello, Engineer!
We have received your logs and save. Unfortunately we've been unable to reproduce the issue on our side. Could you please tell us if the issue repeats itself in the experimental mode? Does anything else notable happen before the crash, for example do enemy NPCs spawn around that area?
Thank you.
Kind Regards

The crash is almost the same in experimental mode, with the exception that one of the two approaches to the game crash area only caused lagging upon exiting the area where the game usually crashes.
The approach from the GPS point "Z Crash Ni" still crashes and exactly the same way.
I have used the " report issue" function in the help menu to send logs of two crashes in experimental mode.
I'm hoping that you are asking if it's reproducible in experimental mode because there's some kind of mod I can install which will either give you more information or stop it from crashing. :)
I'm going to try it and survival plus experimental now. I'm interested to know if you're getting the crash logs I'm sending through the " report issue" interface, or if they are just going into a black hole. :)

I updated the game last night. I'm assuming you mean the update with the notes that are all about Windows and the store.
I have not yet tested those crash areas since the update. I will test that and report.

I've sent a bug report using the " report issue" function in the game. I referenced this bug report, the one I'm currently replying to here.
There was an improvement. I was able to fly both trajectories which previously caused a reliable crash. Then, when I turned around to fly back, it crashed. In a slightly different place about 30 m away.

The second crash location that I've identified reliably crashed at exactly the same point. I can give you a save game and a set of GPS points if you want to test that one.
I'm submitting an in-game issue report about it now, referencing this conversation by its title, as usual.

Hello, Engineer!
We've managed to reproduce the issue. We've added your report to our internal system.
We will update this ticket when we know more.
Thank you for your patience and all logs and other cooperation.

Great! I look forward to what you can do, now that you've reproduced the bug.
