Spiel ruckelt

Steffen Taubert shared this bug 13 months ago
Reported

Hallo,

The game keeps starting to stutter on my PS5 for 2-3 days. What it didn't do at the beginning (before the last update) or since the start of the game (purchased in August 2023).

I'm playing in survival mode. In safe mode.

The location of the Playstation has remained unchanged since the start of the game in August and cooling is not restricted. The exhaust air temperature of the Playstation has remained unchanged as the game progresses and is not excessively high.

Has the problem also occurred with other players?

Best regards and thank you!

Hello, Engineer

Could you please tell us if the issue is present in Single Player or Multiplayer or both? Is Single Player, does it happen on all saves or only specific ones? If Multiplayer, all servers or only specific ones?

Hello,

Thank you for your interest and inquiry...

So far I've only been in multiplayer mode. I started my own world in survival (does that count as multiplayer?) with 100,000 PCU's per player, a maximum of 8 engineers can join, spiders and wolves are on, meteors on normal. Currently I only have a base on Earth.

In this respect, I actually only have one save game, but with several safety sub-scores. But everyone in this one self-opened world.

I haven't played single player yet and can't judge what the problem is.

I have noticed that the jerking varies in intensity. But if it occurs, then it remains consistent in its initial strength throughout the entire playing time.

Another thing.... :

I also noticed another problem. Namely when joining public servers from the main menu. So far I have tried to save a game on all EOS EU servers but unfortunately without success. Even if I rename the lander and give the created rig a name, after I turn off the PS5, I start over in the lander every time!

When I start the game, in the main menu under "Continue Game" it still says the last server visited, but if I want to continue there, I start again at the selection screen at the start, i.e. faction, earth, moon, Mars, etc. and ultimately back in the lander.

During a previous attempt on EU Server #8, I created a GPS signal for the planned base rig. I can still see this after I started again on earth, but after (forced) landing again, this signal is 80km away from the current location. But the last location is now gone again because none of my saves are saved on the server, apparently only the previously created GPS signals... Very annoying. Maybe you have a tip for me in this regard?

Best regards

Steffen

Hello Engineer,

Could you tell us how many players were joined to your Lobby at the time of performance issues?

Hello!

There is no other engineer there when the problems arise. Nowadays the jerking is no longer so constant and frequent. However, in the last few days I haven't played for more than 2 hours at a time. I noticed that the appearance of wolves in particular in connection with my automatic defense system causes jerking, but only then and not incessantly and regularly as it was when I contacted you. It is currently jerking noticeably and annoyingly but rather irregularly...

Best regards...

Hello, Engineer

We're noticing some messages about free space. Could you please tell us how much space your Space Engineers Saved Data takes up? Have you tried removing some? You can publish worlds to mod.io if you wish to retain them.

Good morning to all!

When I tested everything again over the last few days, I only saved the world I was currently using as a savegame and deleted all the others.

Unfortunately the problem still persists. Especially with rain+fog+wolves being attacked by my automatic defense system. I sent you another bug with the note:

"Jerking" and "steffen-taubert@web.de"!

Thank you for your interest! This simulation is simply amazing! Only the jerking is really annoying. Especially when constructing or moving but I think you can imagine that...

Many greetings Steffen.

Hello, Engineer

Could you please publish the world to mod.io saved in conditions that cause stuttering? When the weather conditions are present or when the NPCs are engaged by the defense system. It would really help us.

Hello everyone...

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to upload my savegame to mod.io yet. Blueprints and so on aren't a problem, but I haven't found anything about savegames yet, at least not directly from the console.

Hello everyone!

I have it now!

It took a while, sorry about that but I wanted to make sure I had maximum jerking... . All previously mentioned conditions regarding weather, wolves, etc. are stored in the save file.

I saved when the jerking occurred every 2 seconds (around). Unfortunately, at that point a wolf had already made the acquaintance of an automatic gun turret (I think at the western end of the large block construction, i.e. where the player character is). But they usually appear in packs, so I hope there are still some to be found around the facility.

I haven't used this save since then.

I hope it is meaningful enough and I hope I was able to help you! If you have any questions, I'm of course happy to help!

I published the score on mod.io under:

"TUBE solar II 8--2023 jerking".

(I have attached pictures where you can hopefully find all the information you need)

Thanks for your interest!

Best regards, Steffen.

Hello, Engineer

We have received the world, thank you. Unfortunately the issue did not appear during our testing.

Could you please tell us if when reinstalling you have also deleted the Saved Data completely? Could you please try deleting it from Settings/Storage/Saved Data?

If there are any worlds or blueprints you wish to retain, please upload them to mod.io first.

Thank you for your patience,

Good morning!

No, I didn't delete any saves or anything during the reinstallation. I just uploaded it to the Playstation Cloud and after installation the software of course fetched the data again.

OK, then I'll try that again.

What about the scores on public servers? Are the saved games stored on the respective servers and still available after reinstalling and deleting the backup data?

Thank you very much for your effort!

Kind regards, Steffen

Hello, Engineer

Yes, servers store all the information about players on their side. In Saved Data we're storing settings, saved games, blueprints and scripts.

Hello!

So I deleted everything and loaded the save file from mod.io.

Unfortunately, the result was no improvement. The problem still exists for me.

I also rented a server from Nitrado and have never had similar problems there. But it's not a problem. At the moment I'm playing more on the Nitrado server that I rented. I'm not in the world that I've shared for you on mod.io that often anymore. When I enter it, the jerking is sometimes so strong that sometimes the action commands that are entered using the keys are not carried out. So it's hardly playable at the moment. Despite deleting all data...

Hello, Engineer,

So the issue is not present when you play on a dedicated server? This is helpful information, thank you. We're still investigating the issue on our side.

Could you please let us know if the issue appears on any other world, Single or Multiplayer. If it appears on Single player or a Lobby game you're hosting, please also publish it to mod.io. It would really help us to cross-reference.

Thank you for your patience,

Hello everyone!

Yes that is correct. So far it doesn't occur on a dedicated server! I'm happy to let you know as soon as I notice anything. Right now I'm just in a world to play. Very often but as I said without any problems...

Hello everyone!

I'm very pleased that you are so interested in solving the problems described... 🙂👍

But on to the actual topic... Yes, the problems are actually now also occurring on my dedicated server. For about 4-5 days.

So for about 30 hours there have been exactly the same problems as already described. I think it plays a minor role whether more players are online. But I couldn't yet observe or judge it sufficiently enough to be meaningful enough. I would prefer to narrow that down even more. I can't say exactly, I also had days where I was alone on the server.

I don't know yet whether the problems only occur on Earth or in space too. I've only been in space for 2 hours so far. There will be more in the next few days because I'm finally ready and have the certainty of being able to plan for the long term thanks to my own server...

Since about 10-5 hours of playing, I've booked

a server upgrade, which means more RAM. I think it's gotten a little better. I haven't had the extreme lag anymore for about 1-2 days...

I suggest exploring the problems for a few more days, ultimately the question arises as to whether I don't have a bottleneck in the network. I couldn't immediately notice a difference between Lan/WiFi. Since I haven't been able to make a specific definition yet, I haven't contacted you yet because I'm simply not clear enough at the moment. I was only able to narrow it down to the following:

1. Short-term jerking occurs (temporarily for this scene) when I approach my base with my ship and the signal data is loaded into the Hud

2. The twitching occurs while I'm constructing, especially when selecting blocks , when welding or flexing... That's how it's always been from the beginning. I don't even know if I said that so explicitly in previous reports. When I stop constructing and then look at the wind turbines in the sky, I see how the game continues to lag... Wolves, weather, wind speed and fog also provoke the risk of the problems described on my dedicated server...

I hope I was able to help a little further here...

Best regards, Steffen

Good morning to all!

So after about 40-50 hours of construction in space, I think I can say that the problems don't exist here. Everything is going normally.

Unfortunately, new problems have arisen, such as: incorrectly displayed textures. However, only with black/yellow striped, large blocks. Maybe a bug?

Many greetings Steffen

Hello, Engineer,

Thank you for the screenshots. We are aware of this issue. We've added your report to our internal system ticket on this issue. We will update this thread when we know more about it.

For now we can mention that reducing the number of LCD screens in your build might help reduce this issue.

Thank you for your patience,

Kind regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department

photo

.... OK thank you!

So I actually only started installing LCDs after the texture errors appeared. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint exactly what circumstance in the build led to this. Until now I didn't know about the problem.

I've worked with this texture many times, even in large builds... However, in this image I built some things for the first time. Maybe I can find something out.

What I can already say is that this picture is on an asteroid with high uranium deposits. The build that didn't have these errors is on Earth.

Best regards...

Hello support team!

I don't know if I should start a new ticket? I have a big problem with my drone control...

I built a drilling drone. Unfortunately, I can't regulate the speed of the drone down enough so that it can still follow the waypoints. If the speed is below 0.5m per second (and I actually need about 0.04m per second when drilling), the waypoints are no longer flown to correctly. They run ahead of the drone or the AI flight block, so the drone is too slow to follow.

Even if I use the record block to record the drilling phase at the desired speed of 0.04m/s, the recorded sequence is not implemented at 0.04m/s when flying through the flight block. An argument "reduce speed limit" at the corresponding waypoint also has the same effect. As soon as you set the network speed correctly using the slider, it can no longer follow the waypoints.

I think that's a real shame, because that's not how you can create a truly automatic mining drone. At the moment. Or have I overlooked something? The reference radio beacon is on a coordinate system of pistons with X, Y, and Z axes to create 3D drill holes, but the Z axis is not correctly tracked because the drone either loses control completely or turns around too early because it is "caught" again by the next waypoint.

So do you have a tip for me? I don't know who else I can turn to, I haven't found anything about it in the forums... Many, many thanks in advance!

Best regards, Steffen

photo

.... Sorry, I think I've got it... I completely overlooked the integration of a sensor... The drone is now running perfectly 🤦‍♂

best wishes Steffen
