Crossplay with PC and Playstation

Shane shared this bug 18 months ago
Won't Fix

Hi,

Can someone help me with this?

I have made a dedicated server using the steam executable in order to play with my friends. The server was placed on the EOS network type and console compatibility was on. The are no mod present.

For some reason only playstation players can connect. But not PC.

The server list is not showing the server on PC under the EOS server list.

I even tried direct IP connection.

Any reason this is happening?

Shane

Hello Engineer,

Could you please check which version is running on your Playstation game, Dedicated Server and PC game respectively? It should be the same version.

Thank you.

All software versions are up-to-date

Dedicated version 1.202.114

and the Playstation 5 version is 1.000.003

PC version 1.202.114default

I can't connect PC with the server unless I switch over to steam network. But then Playstation wont connect.

Hello Engineer,

So you're not having any issues connecting PlayStation to a Dedicated Server, but on PC you don't see the server in the Servers tab of Join Game screen, correct?

Could you please check for us if your PC game and Dedicated server both have the same branch selected? To do so please open Steam Library, select the game, click RMB and select Properties/Betas. Both game and Dedicated Server should have None selected.

Could you also please try changing Search Filter on PC. Increasing the ping setting and removing flags such as Compatible Versions?

Are you using the Search field to find your server?

Thank you.

I have tried these solutions. None of them works. I even made a fresh but different configuration of the server and tried to connect, still no joy [ with console compatibility and crossplay compatible map]. I also noticed that an update pushed today; before this post. I tried with the new update, I am still having this problem.

If you want to join the server, please advise in advance?

Hi,

I have tested, the steam (PC only) networking both from the external network address (using port forwarding) and internal network address. But have low pings.

When I am using EOS networking, none of this works, when trying with PC. PlayStation connects fine, since its EOS from the external address, but the ping is to large 180ms for a server that sits two feet away from me.

I am assuming there are some network restricts using EOS networking option on the dedicated server.

Hi,

Just an update.

I was able to connect to the server now using the direct address, which I determined from Playstation i.e. eos://XXXXXX.

However, i can not find the server on the server browser. Not matter the filter for steam/PC. I can find it on playstation.

Another concern I have is the ping for playstation (both ps5 and ps4) compared to PC when connected to the server. These devices are in the same physical location.

This topic can be label closed, since I can connect now. However, a new topic about high ping and the server browser not showing the server are new issues.

Hello Engineer,

Thank you for letting us know the issue is resolved. Unfortunately there is a difference between connection via Steam and EOS. EOS connects through their infrastructure so doesn't matter if devices are next to each other or not.

Regardless the filter, you've mentioned "filter for steam/PC". Could you please tell us if you're switching between Steam and EOS when searching for the server in Join Game/Servers tab? The icons for Steam and EOS are on the right side of the search field.

Thank you.

Hi,

That is very concerning in terms of the ping.

With the topic of the filter, I may have not explained that properly. When I am looking for cross platform games, I switch to the EOS network using the Epic Game logo. The server is not present on the list.

Please note, even when i favourite the server when I use direct connection. It doesn't save.

Hello Shane,

did you try to change ping value in 'Search Filter'? Are you able to see the server from PC with max. ping set up?

Thank you.
