Shields and more armor-window shapes. Because pretty sells.

I'm happy without shields in the vanilla game. But if shields were optional in the vanilla game rather than with a mod.

Mods are unsupported. They often end up outdated and requires someone to volunteer their time to update it... if possible.

Shields would allow players to build on aesthetics. Aesthetics are deeply associated with science fiction which is pretty much at the center of the gaming community's interest in space games.

On top of shields, while I have your attention, more armor and window block shapes would also lead to more aesthetically pleasing ship-builds. The better the ships and bases look in the marketing material, that would probably encourage more game sales when the software is out of beta... soonTM.

Putting in an economy sounds like complicated and thoughtful work. I'm glad the direction was considered. It's as big a deal as planets. But additional shapes to build with sounds like less of a challenge... though I'm not assuming it isn't without its own challenges.

But I hope you might consider shields on moving grids and more shapes to armor and windows. Being able to enjoy the game for its aesthetics is a selling point in my opinion. Being able to produce better looking content that's playable in a real game would be a major plus to the title.

"Prettier" ships are always more popular in the workshop. I think that's a great indicator of marketing direction.
