All the things I expected to have been implemented in the game years ago, at this point I have given up on. Game loops, actual survival mechanics, an expanded combat system, expanded But, here is one. Perceived investment of developer resources, ultra low.
CONCRETE BLOCKS. A cheap, heavy block made from ice and rock. These blocks would allow engineers to build bunkers and other structures to protect themselves early game, without needing to specifically mine iron. These blocks would be extremely heavy relative to their armor value and so would be impossible to utilize on ships.
Very little required, but it would add a massive contrast to building projects in the game.
