Manually reducing the refresh rate for bad monitors

I think it would be good if you could adjust the update rate manually. I can not even play for half an hour with my monitor in space engineers without my monitor flickering and that although I've activated v-sync, that's because my monitor only has an update rate of 60 hz. But if you could turn the hz-number a bit down to about 50 hz, then I think the problem would be solved.
