Make it possible to hire NPC station to build a ship from a blueprint

Being able to buy ships from NPC factions is swell and all, but in the long run I'd imagine the novelty will run off once you need a more specialized ship or want something more custom.

And while ship building in SE survival is good fun, at some point you're more interested in having a working ship than building it for the nth time, sure you can build welder setup and all that but it can still be quite cumbersome for larger/complex builds.

As such, being able to commission an NPC station to build a ship from blueprint would seem like a nifty thing to be able to do. Having upkeep cost and requirements could make NPC interaction more useful and meaningful and extend the longevity of the game:

  • Make access to the service require a certain reputation, and/or the PCU limit scaling with your reputation.
  • Instead of being instant, the build process could take in-game time based on size and complexity.
  • Require some form of upkeep/up front payment similar to zone chips during the build process, requiring interaction with NPCs to obtain.
  • The material cost would need to be covered in credits, or materials could be delivered to the station (the latter would make things interesting from a PVP perspective).

I think that such a feature would make the economy system more interesting in the long run and extend the usefulness of NPC factions.

tl;dr

Add a feature where NPC factions can be paid to build a ship from blueprint given you have the prerequisite standing and currency.
