Lower Flight Seat Emissive Brightness

The flight seat emissive is too bright and makes flying with large ships on planets at night more difficult and dangerous as the eye adjustment prioritises the bright rectangle, as it should. Spotlights aren't much help as they don't really illuminate anything past a certain range.
I'm going to justify this idea with the real life counterpart of automotive dial backlight and displays being adjustable so as to not blind the driver if it's dark outside.
Replace the emissive with an LCD maybe?
