HOW TO DEACTIVATE EYE ADAPTATION!

I have spent the last two hours looking through mods, forums and countless other people having the same problem. Eye Adaptation is effectively working backwards and cannot be disabled.
I have made an account just to ask for a way to turn it off and I am struggling to be polite about this because I raised a bug report about this years ago (probably around the time this horrible mess was implemented) and I have had no response, nor can I play the game at all.
I don't care for the reasons of it, I just want an option to make it go the hell away and not blind me again.
