Frame blocks

It seems to me that just about every official ship and station design from KEEN has unfinished, frame blocks in a few places. I, and I'm certain a great many others, totally love this look.
However, this does not work at all when printing a ship with welders or BARs; or with other repairs.
It's pretty odd that such a style of construction used by so many SE Devs has this 'bug' in it.
I've seen a mod for this, but since Devs use it, there should be a DLC or something.
