Economic ralationship between factions

Is it okay that NPC Factions try to kill you for working for other factions? They can rise price or refuse to buy anything from you which is still realistic but war... it is economically unreasonable for any faction except pirates. I realise that there is just a counter and limits(+/-500) so i suppose that a simple trading with business competitors must not drop reputation below -500. Any shot or grind will drop it further and become a sparcle for war in that case.
