conected but cant move items

I have connected all cargo containers correctly the pipes are green and if I access one it shows other ones but if I put anything in one container I can't take it out from the other one. same goes for refineries all connected but can't move items. For example, if I want to create steel plates I need to take them out of the cargo container and put hem in assembler but the cargo container and assembler are connected.
plz, help because this makes the game so much harder.
