Autopilot waypoint orientation issues

I'm trying to create a basic "auto dock" and "undock" using the auto pilot. The ship has its connector at the back and therefore needs to back in to the connector in order to connect to it. Because the remote control does not "add orientation" when creating waypoints, it's simply not possible to do it. It tries to get to the position but does not care if it front, backwards or sideways in accordance to its orientation when you first created the waypoint.

The way I see it, this is probably the most basic function you need the auto pilot to fulfil. The fix is simple; Somehow the remote control block needs to remember the orientation it had when creating the waypoints or at least have it as an option at the different waypoints.
