Artillery and penetration in SE

So when someone mentions combat on a planet one of the first things that people tend to think (right after tanks) is artillery or other means of indirect fire, so basically cannons or mortars of some type. I personally would love one of the above mentioned weapons systems in SE as it seems like the planetary combat is somewhat lacking.

My idea would be to add a general purpose weapon that could be functional in both space and on planets, a weapon that when in natural gravity would be affected by gravity enabling the option of indirect fire and when fired in space the shells would fly strait thus making the weapons useful in space as well.

Of course, a weapon like this would need added range over the current maximum of 800m. However, this seems to have already been solved with the workshop flooding with amazing new weapon mobs. A weapons like this could also double as a tank cannon and would set it apart from the current rocked based weaponry in SE if it were able to switch between high explosive shells intended for artillery and maybe flak usage and armor piercing shells with smaller radius of impact but similar effect as the modded weapons which have this kind of ammunition.

This weapon could be like the current rocket launcher as a static block with both small and large ship variants and requiring some engineering from the players part to function as a turreted weapon system.

Furthermore, if such a thing could be implemented something with smaller caliber such as a chaingun of an infantry fighting vehicle would have a place along a large cannon in the battlefields of SE, in my opinion as both styles of weapons are widely used by armed forces world wide.
