A better purpose/campaign/endgoal

I love Space engineers because it allows you to go in any direction you choose, but there is a need for an eventual end goal, or going somewhere and doing something that is worth spending time for. For example in Minecraft, beating the Ender Dragon surely isn't the end of the game, but it's something that all players know about and work towards that has a sense of closure and reward to all of the things you/and your friends went through along the way. The problem for giving Space Engineers its own 'Ender Dragon' so to speak, is not such a good idea because it's focused around building and space, not mining and crafting. (well kinda but you get the idea) So, just something; a place, an event, a story arch even that drives the player forward. Something that I think could work well is an improved campaign that starts the player in a prebuilt environment. ie, a mine, base, town, city, station, stranded somewhere with just enough sense of direction and content that keeps pushing the player forward.
