Hey you. Yes, you. Have you ever beein the situation that you tried to build something on a planet, and the weather said: "No-uh"? Have you ever sat for 20 minutes in the cockpit of your starter rover or a small room you built, lest you'd be pelted by debris or get radiation posioning from some nasty fog? Have you ever had to take a break from builing a space station or ship because the sun was baking you alive? Perhaps, have you ever been onetapped by an interior turret and thought: "This is f-ing BS"?

What if I told you that the obnoxiousness of weather, radiation, the squishness of your character, all have a potential solution that would integrate smoothly into the gameplay, if implemented.

Consider: space suit inserts and reinforcements. Imagine, if you will, a new section for your inventory, with two slots. One, where you can place an inner lining for your space suit, one where you can palce an (outter) reinforcement for it.

There would be various types of these, offering a variety of bonuses to your character. They would not be visible and they would not alter the look of the space suit. Imagine, simple items, craftable, or perhaps, some of them uncraftable, only appearing as loot. They could be perhaps tiered, like tools. You put it in the slot, and your character enjoys the benefit. In some cases, maybe at the cost of some tradeoffs. Simple as. Or, if you want it less simple, why not make the equipping of these upgrades an exclusive functionality of the Medbay?

The basic thought process is this: if you play the game and some envitonmental effect is driving you nuts, you should be able to craft something to mitigate its effects. Radiation? How about an inner lining that reduces its buildup. How about some lead in the outer layers to reduce it even further? Perhaps, you hate storm debri. Let's add some non-newtonian fluid-based padding on the inside to reduce blunt force trauma. Not enough? Let's also get some ceramic plating on top of that. That one could also protect against bullets to a certain degree. You often take chip damage because you take 4 meter drops like a champ? There could be an inner laying that gives you a constant, very small HP regeneration. How about additional insulation, to reduce the energy drain from extreme temperatures?

The possibilities, as you can surely imagine, are large. With two separate item types, inner linings and reinforcements, the player could also mix and match various boons. For exmple, If you REALLY don't want to be pelted ot death by the Pertam standstorm you could stack blunt force trauma resistance, but you could also take half of that and half of the radiation resistance kit.
