Flight control critical to progression

I've been flying various flight sims for decades, and to be honest the flight model here isn't that model, outside the fact it's gotta be super-hard for someone who isn't into flight sims to get a handle on due to the lack of indicators and hud. There's no artificial horizon, and a single velocity vector reading to work with. Coupled with the likelihood of hard hitches during critical descent phases, the only "reliable" way to land is to rely on messing with dampers and pitching the nose up hard intermittently. It makes landing take 3-5x longer than it ought, which is going to be a real drag on the story progression.

Suggest:

1- Artificial horizon,

2- Vertical speed or nose-relative climb/sink indicator,

3- 180-hotkey to allow bringing the big engine to bear
