SE1 is now online-only game, why?
I think there was a recent change in SE regarding the offline mode.
Before that, SE were using two different folder for saves, while online and offline:
While online, SE were using a folder with a long numeric name, like this:
...\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\012345678901234567
and while offline, SE were using a different folder for saves, for some unknown reason:
... \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\1234567891011
The trick was to create a link to the first folder right next to it with the name of 1234567891011
So, no matter if you have the internet or not, you can use same save files.
The reason why the developers did that split is unknown to me. I really want to see the explanation.
Looks like the numbers are random, but folder with longer numeric name is online save folder, the folder with shorter numeric name is where the game looks for saves while there is no internet available.
But now, even if a linked directory exists or not, the game creates new empty directory with shorter numeric name, ignoring the link.
BUT.
Even if you copied all saves from the directory with a long name into the directory with a short name, the game NOW do not allow you to load them, stating that those saves are online saves, despite those are offline saves, as stated in their settings.
WHY?
