Automation Enhancement: Ore Detector Integration for Autonomous Systems

Keen Software House Development Team,

I love the level of automation already possible in Space Engineers, and I have a suggestion that would unlock a new level of autonomous gameplay immersion.

The Ore Detector currently functions only as a UI tool, displaying a type of waypoint to the player.

Feature Request: Please enable the Ore Detector to publish / record the GPS coordinates of detected ore directly to the ship's internal systems (blocks on the grid) to be accessed using automation components.

Why this matters: This feature would allow players to build and deploy sophisticated automation chains:

  • Scenario 1: Exploration: An autonomous scout ship could map an entire asteroid, log the exact GPS location of every detected resource, and then broadcast that data to a player's long-range base.
  • Scenario 2: Mining: A dedicated mining drone could use the relayed GPS data to fly precisely to the ore body, activate its drills, and begin extraction, creating a hands-off resource pipeline.

Implementing this ability to reference detected ore locations within the automation/relay system would be a game-changer for players who enjoy creating complex, self-sufficient systems, greatly enhancing the core automation experience.

I feel that this would be a reasonable request since all, if not most, of the framework to support this addition should already be in place.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Corbin Meier.
