suggesting to clear up automatic push, and pull (possibly bug fix - not sure)
hello!
in the game the player can press alt+middle click to dump components, ingots, and ores from its inventory - i will refer to this as "dumping"
when the player is dumping it is rather not intuitive to which infrastructure the player is dumping its items into regardless of "automatic push and pull" setting, and regardless whether the infrastructure items are dumped into is turned on, or off powerwise
ores:
understandably when the player builds a prototech refinery, it might cease the need to use regular refineries, let alone basic ones. however currently when the player dumps ore everything is put into the regular refinery if one is present, and if no regular refinery is present, then everything is put into basic refinery, and if no basic refinery is present, then you can only hope you did not turn off "automatic push and pull" to your prototech refinery, otherwise it will not take any ores from the player itself (even before the basic refinery does) - the earlier two refineries are even getting filled when their "automatic push and pull" off, and even when they are turned off powerwise.
i would like to suggest to no longer make the player dump anything directly into infrastructure, but let the infrastructure take it via "automatic push and pull" in case it is turned on, and in case there is cargo container with enough empty space. (possibly when conveyor entrances of these infrastructures are targeted directly, then the player dumps items into these infrastructures specifically - i will let you decide whether this case, or the case that containers are filled before infrastructure is better)
ingots:
currently when the player dumps its ingots to a conveyor entrance, the ingots are either put into the regular refinery first, or the assembling infrastructure block that is built the earliest among basic assemblers, survival kits, assemblers, and prototech assemblers copmpletely disregarding "automatic push and pull" setting of these infrastructures
i would like to suggest to either flip the order that considers into which such infrastructure items are dumped into to from the last built to the earliest built - because the player will more probably build the prototech as the last assembler (after assembler, after basic assembler, after survival kit), or make it so that prototech assembers, and assemblers can take items from the input inventories of survival kits, and basic assemblers, or make the "automatic push and pull" relevant to dumping cargo, or even possibly prevent to store any items other than components in survival kit with a setting (more about that below)
components:
currently when the player dumps components into a conveyor entrance, the components are put into the earliest built assembler the same with ingots (except it ignores refineries)
i would like to suggest to have the components put into cargo containers rather to the earliest built assembling infrastructure
o2 h2 tanks:
currently these are able to refill bottles but there is no "automatic push and pull" setting for these - i would like to suggest to make the "auto refill" setting that when switched on these tanks start to pull bottles, otherwise they are not pulling bottles
o2/h2 generators:
currently when "automatic push and pull" is on to these generators, it will take away player bottles from other containers, and when it is off, the generator will not consume ice - so there is no possibility to make the o2 h2 generators less annoying even with the current "automatic push and pull" setting - for this i would like to suggest the "auto refill" setting that when switched off it is not pulling bottles away contrary to when it is on, and let the bottles disregard the "automatic push and pull" completely - just like for o2 h2 tanks
also, not only dumping is problematic,
currently when the inventories of cargo containers are full already these infrastructure are pushed items into regardless of their "automatic push and pull" settings - which renders resources unavailable to (most of the time to) assemblers as assemblers can not pull items from other assembling infrastructures' input inventories
for the later few issues i would like to suggest the "store components only" switch for specifically the survival kit - this switch ensures that the survival kit can not store any items other than components - as components can be collected during building, and those can not be in the input inventory of it, and in the mean time this switch is turned on, its input inventory is available to take items from to other infrastructure most importantly assemblers, yet the survival kit can not produce items
specifically the survival kit because the basic assembler is taken apart in the moment a full fledged assembler is built - albeit it can still happen that a docked ship's, or a merged ship's basic assembler gets priority - this is the same extent of the issue to refineries too, so for this entire thing i would like to suggest to when an infrastructural block is turned off powerwise, its input is open to take from for the other infrastructures - obviously the survival kit is probably not a good idea to be turned off, and that is why the "components only" feature is required there according to my point of view
post script:
i did not consider that a cargo container can be built before an infrastructure block for assembling, or refining, or gas generating, or gas keeping
