Access Hatches and Doors for service areas

I like to build a lot of "serviceable" areas of my ship which grant access to conveyors, reactors, gyros, etc. However there has never been a great solution to create access hatches to these areas, only bulky doors which can't be placed into the floor realistically and don't read as a service area. What I imagine is a relatively thin block which is just a thin, almost flush panel that can open and allow a person to traverse through.
This could not only be useful for service areas but also allow the creation of storage closets or emergency exits. They'd also be great on the external of small ships or vehicles to allow service work from the outside of a ship when it's parked.
