Environmental processing and manufacturing restrictions SE2
Suggestion for SE2
To restrict some material processing, assembly or manufacturing to environmental conditions. This would be for specialist materials, components or block combinations that the engineer would find useful.
This could initially be as simple as a biome type, or an air tight space or a vacuum.
Then extended to an engineered facility for working with high or low temperatures, humidity, pressure, underwater, and deep underground.
All of which could have an effect on an industrial process.
And for the love of 'hype', more exotic conditions could apply such as a dense plasma field, toxic fluids or an intense radiation bath.
The idea of this would be to push exploration, research, discovery and of course engineering.
This may cause the need for distributed manufacturing bases to be maintained across vast distances.
Trading could be more of a thing too.
