faction based gameplay
central idea: more involved interaction with factions create more need and functionality to specialized ships and different ways to play the game.
i hope this counts as one idea since its all tied together as 1 general concept.
some of these ideas presently exist in the game though to a smaller extent.
established trade routes with reliable prices from one faction to another make cargo ships and just cruising the solar system a viable play style.
choose missions that help a faction grow in actual presence on the map. conquer enemy faction bases, defend allies bases, establish new colonies. the stronger the faction, the more often you see their ships flying around.
grand faction headquarters that could even function as a final boss battle or last stand.
