Ideas for replay value in upcoming "unidentified signals"

This was written before the release of the Contact update.

Someone expressed a concern that encounters could get bland quickly if there are only few Factorum bases and ships. If you haven't brainstormed all this already, here are some additional ideas to spice things up:

  • Different color schemes
  • Varying high-value loot in cargo
  • Different broadcast messages from the Factorum as you approach
  • Individual lights are broken (turned off)
  • Chance of a self-destruct sequence starting
  • Chance of a wave of enemy drones spawning at a random delay
  • Play with long distances, so players in light ships require less jumps to get there and claim the loot before anyone else arrives
  • Mark some blocks of the prefabs as optional with a 10% chance to spawn to randomly add unexpected interior turrets, explosive barrels or decorative crates with loot
