Custom Block Groups

I have seen several complaints about the grouping of many of the armor blocks and the lack of grouping of some DLC blocks. To this, I present the custom groups feature!

There would be a button somewhere to allow you to set your own groups. selecting this would do two things. First, it would ungroup all the grouped blocks, so you can select any block you want without having to use the whole group. Second, it would add a grayed out slot behind any already filled slot.

These slots would be shown when you hover over the hotbar, but otherwise, they'd slide behind the main hotbar similarly to how stacks of cards are depicted. Slots that are occupied have a dark, saturated color, while empty slots have a lighter, desaturated color. Each group has exactly one empty tile, at the highest position in the group. Each slot's group should be independent of the others so that if one group has 8 items, the other groups that only have 1 or 2 don't block your screen.

Doing this every time you want a group will get annoying, so there would be another option on the left side of the menu, where the block type filters are. This button would be positioned at the top and slightly separated from the rest of the list. In the Set Groups mode, every slot that has two or more blocks in it will have a save button in the corner of the block on the main hotbar. Clicking that button will put the group into this section, allowing you to save your groups for ease of use.

This method may be confusing to new players and would make the preset block groups look out of place. To solve both of these problems, when you put a preset group into the hotbar, it automatically generates the group items and places them in the appropriate slots. This solves both problems, bringing the groups into the theme and giving players a hint that the tiles are for groups.

Once you exit the block menu, the hotbar could either revert to the old + to designate the slot as a group, or a carousel style could be implemented where scrolling up and down rotates the carousel in that direction. (This also serves as another hint to new players that the scroll wheel cycles between items in the group). The menu on the side would have a similar carousel, but it would show a saturated version of the currently selected block and desaturated versions of the icons of the next and previous 1 or 2 blocks. This way, it's easier to navigate the menu and find the block you're looking for.

This system would simplify the group-making process, make learning the game easier, improve deign, and provide more utility to the in-game tooltips. Thank you for your consideration, and sorry for the text blob.
