You would have 1 end part 1 stackable middle part 1 moving part. Think of it as the piston. But the rod is stackable static part. And the piston cylinder is the moving part that moves across the rod part until you reach the end part. This should prevent a lot of clang I believe, as someone who loves to place multiple pistons in a row.
You could also make a aesthetic middle part with radial mount. It would look better if you would like to use it as a gantry or a rail across floor or sealing.
I would love to see this. I think it would be relatively easy to do as well.
