Basically, what if you can build your own gun?


We already can build turrets and we got new guns some time ago. BUT what if we could take small parts of guns (like breach, cannon barrel, etc.) in different sizes and types and combine in ways that we want them to work.

That way you can`t tell, what gun has ship, that`s coming at you. People can put on Workshop different gun models, and it basically just adds depth to combat ships.

How it can work:

Basically there will be 3 breach modules for 3 calibers of shells for small and large grid (6 in total. Bigger the calibre, longer the reload). You can connect Barrel blocks to them, stacking them on top of one another.

From there you can change barrel length to change speed of travel of the shell (longer ->faster) and accuracy of the gun.

And from there - bigger the calibre and it`s speed, the more damage it will do.

It may seem unbalanced at first glance, but imagine how big gun will need to be, to launch biggest shell at big speeds. Mass and size of the gun will do the balancing.

Maybe not all players will like this idea, because we already have working and stable guns, but I was thinking giving more options for creativity will be good. (And not knowing what you gonna face, when attacking this ship with strange looking guns)

(And maybe different types of shells? like explosive for destroying not armored blocks and penetrative for blasting trough armored blocks)00c5d7b464f7754e8f44ed49724aeded
