Large grid connector upgrade request

The small grid connector is pipeable from the sides as well as in the back. It would be great if the large grid connector could be remodeled to do the same. Sometimes you don't have that 2 block space for an elbow AND connector so it would be nice if you can straight pipe right to the side of the connector. Possibly a new block that is also air tight?
OR
How a bout a half block connector that just pipes from the back?
OR Better yet
A super low profile air tight connector
