Connector Merge Blocks

Aight so connectors are cool and all but what if I want to be able to merge/unmerge ships while also preserving their conveyor systems? In other words, a merge block that also acts as a conveyor block.
In that same vein, can we get the option to name merge blocks so when disconnected the name on the merge block becomes the grid's name or something? That would be cool.
