Equipment Slots gives the player the ability to drag and drop suit modules or tools/weapons into the appropriate equipment bar above the inventory screen. the character has 4 slots each for tools/weapons and suit modules by default, the number can be increased with a special module. tools/weapons are now switched in two different ways, instead of assigning specific tools/weapons to the number keys as before, there is now the option to map a single number key and switch using the mouse wheel (like "+" blocks in the G menu). There is also the option of placing the respective tool/weapon slots directly on the number keys (if, for example, you always want to call up the tool in the first slot with a specific key).

Treasure chests contain modules for the equipment slots, the player can choose one module per chest. the chest come in three versions : the starting chest is only available at respawn, it contains all the basic modules plus the planetary jetpack and the advanced expansion module. basic chests contain only basic modules while advanced chests contain all modules. you can only choose one module from each chest. only one module of each type may be equipped (a basic version cannot be equipped together with an advanced version and vice versa). advanced versions are better but usually have a penalty.

One important thing needs to be noted. the character loses the ability to fly on planets/moons. The reason for the start chest or treasure chests in general is to give the player the ability to use a jetpack on planets if she/he deems it necessary. the same applies to the Advanced Expansion Module, it gives players the opportunity to equip a total of 6 tools/weapons. that's why I think the start chest is important to make it easier to get used to the new system.

basic tool suggestions:

-Basic Expansion Module (Can be dragged to the tool/weapon or equipment bar. Increases the number of slots by 1)

-Crowbar (opens unpowered doors and storage blocks)

advanced tool suggestions:

-Advanced Expansion Module (Can be dragged to the tool/weapon or equipment bar. Increases the number of slots by 2)

basic equipment suggestions:

-Moon Jet Pack (works up to a gravity of 0.3G)

-O2 Bottle (increases gas capacity*)

-H2 Bottle (increases gas capacity*)

-Solar Suit Module (Recharge Suit in Sunlight)

-Light Armour Vest (Reduces damage taken by 25%)

-Passiv Detector (Detect players and grids in a 200m radius, when the antenna is on)

-Daypack (Increases the inventory size by 400l)

-Night Vision Goggles (gives you limited night vision and equips the suit with IR light**)

-Basic Expansion Module (Can be dragged to the tool/weapon or equipment bar. Increases the number of slots by 1)

advanced equipment suggestions:

-Planetary Jet Pack (works up to a gravity of 1.2G. When in jetpack mode: carrier is marked for enemies*** and is an easier target for turrets)

-EVA O2 Bottle (twice the capacity of a regular bottle)

-EVA H2 Bottle (twice the capacity of a regular bottle)

-Suit Battery Upgrade (Increased suit battery by 50%)

-Heavy Armour Vest (Reduces damage taken by 50%. Reduces running speed/jetpack acceleration by 25%)

-Passiv Multi Detector (Detect players and grids in a 400m radius, when the antenna is on. Increase antenna radius to 400m)

-Backpack (Increases the inventory size by 800l)

-Next Generation Night Vision Goggles (gives you improved night vision and equips the suit with IR light. high power consumption**)

-Advanced Expansion Module (Can be dragged to the tool/weapon or equipment bar. Increases the number of slots by 2)

*must now be equipped, can still be built in the assembler

**the ir light increases night vision. Without IR light, the Next Gen NVG has the same night vision capability as the basic NVG, but can further improve it by switching on IR light. IR light can be seen by all active NVG wearers.

***looks like an activated suit antenna in game. should be visible about 1000m away.
