Ghost placement
It's really irritating to try and start sketching out a ship in survival but then realizing that your last "deposit all components" action left you without any Steel plates or Interior plates. It requires another action to go grab some amount of them, which will clutter up your inventory until you deposit them again, restarting the vicious cycle.
It's also annoying to have an extra step to get the blocks you just placed in the build planner, so you can get the materials in your welding ship.
It would be fantastic to have a "ghost placement" mode, which would put down a planned block, similar to what a blueprint projector does, and add it to the build planner.
What would be the cherry on top would be allowing more than 10 blocks in the build planner. This could be done by stacking up duplicates of the same block to say "24x Solar panel" instead of having them be separate items.
That way, you could plan out a whole ship without any fuss, get all the materials in your welding ship (or printer) and start building!
